CAMBRIDGE, MD — Katie Clendaniel, a dedicated community development leader and lifelong advocate for the Eastern Shore, officially announced her candidacy for the Maryland State Senate in District 37. With over 15 years of experience in economic revitalization and non-profit management, Clendaniel is stepping forward to provide the leadership and strategic vision necessary to strengthen the region’s future.
“I am running for State Senate because the people of the Eastern Shore deserve a representative who understands our unique challenges and has a proven track record of delivering results,” said Clendaniel. “From revitalizing our downtowns to securing millions in funding for community projects, my career has been dedicated to making this region a better place to live and work. I am ready to take that same energy and expertise to Annapolis”.
Clendaniel’s background includes serving as the Executive Director of Cambridge Main Street, where she led downtown revitalization efforts and successfully managed capital improvement projects worth over $500,000. She has also played a pivotal role in securing more than $7 million in funding for the development of a local community center and has worked extensively on heritage tourism and economic development across the Mid-Shore region.
Her campaign will focus on:
Economic Revitalization: Building on her success in downtown development to support small businesses and create sustainable jobs across the district.
Community Development: Balancing farmland preservation with residential and commercial needs to maintain the character of the Shore, while also tackling difficult housing challenges.
Infrastructure Investment: Leveraging state and federal resources to improve local infrastructure and services.
Environmental Resiliency: Committed to addressing key environmental issues facing the Eastern Shore, including the health of the bay and building long-term environmental resilience among our local communities.
“Stepping forward to serve is a commitment I take seriously,” Clendaniel added. “I look forward to meeting with voters across District 37 to discuss how we can build a stronger, more resilient Eastern Shore together”.
